We decided to adopt again in late July of 2007. The idea had been there since Addie came home. There was really not much discussion, it seemed to be something we knew were going to do and since I am not getting any younger we decided we should get started. On August 1, 2007 we started the application. We mailed our application to Lifeline on August 1, 2007. We used Lifeline when we adopted Addie and had a great experience. While in China I heard many people complain about their adoption agency and how they were not prepared for the experience. Lifeline did a great job preparing us for the experience.
Our first interview at Lifeline was Sept. 10, 2007 and our homestudy was Sept. 26, 2007. Let me just go on record as saying we were not near as anxious during the second interview and home study process. When we had our first homestudy you would not have found a cleaner, neater house this side of the Mississippi the second time we kinda picked up a little.
In October 2007 we had our physicals then mailed our I600-A in November. We did not complete our dossier as quickly this time and mailed the dossier in March of 2008. During our first adoption we had our LID after 5 months from the date we got our application. This time we did not feel the same need to hurry through the process. We were DTC in Apr 08 and had our LID on May 8, 2008. It was not that we were not excited but having two small children at home already kept us busy with not as much spare time.
During the process of the paperchase we recieved three referrals. These children had medical needs that were beyond our ability to care for them due to our location and having two other children to care for. It was extremely difficult to pass on those referrals but God made it clear that he had someone else in store for us and that we should be patient. A quality neither LeAnn nor myself is particularly blessed with.
On November 21, 2008 we recieved our referral for An Yuan Gang, a little boy in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, at the Xi'an CWI. His special need is that he does not have any fingers on his left hand. We knew immediatley this was the child for us and accepted the referral the same day. We think we will be traveling between March and May of 2009. We hope for March as he will be 2 on March 27.
